Ainda não há uma definição sobre quem ficará no setor sul do Maracanã na final da Taça Guanabara, neste domingo, ás 17h. Mesmo após reunião realizada neste sábado, na sede da FERJ, mandatários de Fluminense e Vasco não chegaram a um consenso e a briga pelo lado direito do estádio promete ganhar novos capítulos.

De um lado, o presidente do Fluminense, Pedro Abad, deixou o local por volta das 14h10 e preferiu não falar com a imprensa. Roberta Fernandes e Marcelo Penha, representantes do clube, também deixaram a reunião.Já o presidente cruz-maltino, Alexandre Campello, falou sobre a liminar concedida ao Tricolor pela Justiça – que exige o cumprimento do contrato com o Consórcio.

– Temos mais de 20 mil ingressos vendidos, absoluta maioria para a torcida do Vasco no setor sul. Não tem como mudar esse curso agora, nem o local da partida. Chegamos a definição de que vamos atender a liminar e suspender a venda do setor sul e iniciar a venda do setor norte para a torcida do Fluminense até que se chegue ao número de ingressos que foram vendidos para os vascaínos. Os outros setores seguem disponíveis – disse Campello.

Terceira parte envolvida na questão, o Maracanã emitiu nota informando que está cumprindo a decisão da Justiça favorável ao Fluminense.

“O Maracanã informa que apresentou, no dia 15/02/19, uma petição ao Juiz da 37a Vara Cível informando que a concessionária que administra o estádio está cumprindo a decisão, tendo comunicando imediatamente ao Vasco, mandante da partida, para providências com relação à venda dos ingressos do setor sul à torcida do Fluminense Football Club”, declarou em nota.

A liminar conquistada pelo Fluminense é dojuiz Sandro Lucio Barbosa Pitassi, da 37ª Vara Cível do Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ), que determinou que o Complexo Maracanã cumpra de forma integral o contrato com o clube e, consequentemente, destine o setor sul do estádio na final da Taça Guanabara, domingo, contra o Vasco, aos tricolores. O magistrado também fixou uma multa de R$ 50 mil por hora de ingressos vendidos em desacordo com a decisão.

Entenda o caso: apolêmica vem desde 2013, quando o Maracanã foi reaberto. O Fluminense fez um acordo com a administração do estádio e passou a alocar sua torcida no setor sul, à direita das cabines de rádio. O problema é que o Vasco foi alocado no lado direito devido ao título carioca em 1950, onde ficou decidido que o campeão carioca teria o direito de escolher onde posicionar a torcida.

Andy Flower, the England team director, has cautioned against over-hyping Joe Root’s early success at international level after his form prompted discussion as to whether he should immediately be promoted to open in Tests, and which of the established top order he could force out for the 2013 Champions Trophy.With the new split coaching role that has Ashley Giles in charge of the limited-overs squads, Flower has not been around the team during Root’s impressive run in India and New Zealand since the start of this year. However, Flower did see at first hand Root’s Test debut in Nagpur, where he made 73 off 229 balls in the first innings to help England towards their series-clinching draw.Root gave another composed display during England’s warm-up match against the New Zealand XI in Queenstown – scoring 49 in the first innings and contributing useful overs during the three-wicket defeat – ahead of a series where he is penciled in to retain the No. 6 position he had in Nagpur.Root has already been given tags ranging from the opener-in-waiting to a future England captain, so while acknowledging what he had achieved in the embryonic stage of his career, Flower hoped expectations would not become too inflated.”You’ve got to remember Joe Root has played one Test match,” he said. “I think everyone should keep a little calm about his prospects. It was an excellent game of cricket … all in all, a very good outing for everyone.”No one was rustier than seamer Graham Onions who had a forgettable match, ending with figures of 1 for 213 from 38 overs, which means Stuart Broad is assured of a return to the Test team although, as ever, Flower would not confirm any selection decisions. Broad was the pick of England’s quicks as he put his troublesome heel through a solid work out, maintaining good pace in multiple spells, and did not appear hindered at any point.”I’m very pleased,” Flower said. “His heel is obviously a worry to him and to us. But it reacted well to the number of overs he bowled, and he came through it well. He is fit and available for selection for the first Test.”Still, half of England’s bowling attack in the first Test will be pushing bodies that are not in prime order. Along with Broad’s heel there is Graeme Swann’s elbow to monitor. He spent six overs off the field on the final day in Queenstown, when he sent down 20 overs in total, for what was termed ‘routine’ work on the elbow, which underwent surgery in 2009 and will remain a concern for the rest of Swann’s career.Swann will have an immense workload in the next 12 months – unlike the quicks he is unlikely to consistently have someone to share the burden – and 15 Tests between now and the end of the back-to-back Ashes, not to mention the Champions Trophy, could stretch his joint to breaking point.”Inevitably, there are niggles – the stresses and strains that are put on their bodies mean there always are,” Flower said. “But at the moment everyone is fine.”Flower was also confident that, despite the bowling attack struggling in the absence of James Anderson and Steven Finn, there were enough resources to cover whatever situations occur.”We’ve got some very fine international bowlers. That’s why we’ve had a lot of success recently. We’re always conscious of the contingency plans in case some of our star bowlers get injured – and because of the nature of the job they do, they are going to get injured. I am confident that, if we do have injuries, we will have bowlers who can create pressure and chances.”

– É a estreia, jogo importante. É bom vencer, dá confiança. É muito importante, porque a sequência no fim de janeiro, início de fevereiro vai ser bem decisiva. Começando bem, vamos poder administrar melhor o elenco.

O atual elenco do Botafogo é composto por diversos garotos (média de idade de 25 anos). E, sem Carli e Pimpão, dois de seus líderes, tende a ter ainda mais dificuldade para se impor contra a equipe da Região dos Lagos. Mas o êxito passará pela confiança depositada na garotada, que precisa dar uma boa resposta e fazer valer o mote “sem segredo”.

O zagueiro Maracás foi contratado nesta temporada e já assumiu a titularidade na equipe, e assim como o goleiro Matheus Cavichioli, valorizou o bom trabalho defensivo até então.

– A marcação começa desde o ataque, não são apenas os jogadores da defesa, mas sim os dez da linha. O professor Renan tem feito um ótimo trabalho, estamos conseguindo absorver as ideias passadas por ele, e vamos procurar cada vez mais por isso em prática – contou Maracás, que também falou sobre o confronto diante do Palmeiras.

– O Palmeiras tem um elenco muito forte e mostrou isso na temporada passada. Vamos entrar focados, evitando ao máximo os erros. Sabemos da qualidade deles, mas também confiamos no nosso trabalho, e vamos lutar para sair de campo com um bom resultado – concluiu.

The pink ball will make its Bangladeshi debut when the Bangladesh Cricket League final begins on Friday. The BCB’s decision to experiment with the ball will be, quite literally, under the spotlight, as the first-class match between Central Zone and North Zone is a day-night fixture – another first for the country – at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.Both teams, however, have been given very little time to get acquainted with the ball, as they were each given a set of three pink balls to train with on the eve of the match.The initial report after the centre-wicket net session from both teams has been cautiously encouraging. Central Zone’s Marshall Ayub, who is the tournament’s leading run-scorer, was wary of how much the ball would swing, but said he had no trouble sighting the ball.”The ball moved sideways, so I think how much it swings tomorrow will be in the back of everyone’s mind,” Marshall said. “Everyone is talking about the pink ball in the dressing room, but I have done some catching and fielding. It seemed visible enough under artificial lights.”North Zone batsman Farhad Hossain found it quite easy to deal with the new pink ball, though he believed what happens in a competitive match will be far more important. “We played with a new ball mostly, so wear and tear wasn’t an issue,” Farhad said. “I think we have to find out what happens tomorrow when the ball gets old. So far I think it has been okay sighting the ball. I also found it easy catching the ball, even though one of the light towers wasn’t used.”It is a very different experience for us, but we want to see how it goes tomorrow. The only issue [is] it becoming discoloured [as it gets older], [which may] trouble the batsman because the ball will [need to] be changed. A newer ball under lights can swing around.”The BCB have set aside 30 balls for the five-day match as a precautionary measure, after concerns about its longevity had been raised. A domestic match in South Africa held in September last year was the last occasion when a pink ball was used in a competitive match. But concerns over its ability to hold colour, especially given how easily the sheen goes away, remained. It had to be changed roughly every 25 overs during the match The other hurdle for many of the players will be to switch between the formats in such a short space of time. The BPL final was on February 19, ending four weeks of continuous Twenty20 cricket, and three days later it is a first-class final. But Marshall said it is hardly an issue. “I think we will manage between the formats quite well.”

Their fourth victory was largely because of the opening partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Charles Coventry, and their bowlers keeping the Riders’ batting in check in the final five overs.Chasing 163, Tamim and Coventry added 95 for the first wicket before Tamim holed out to Nasir Hossain at long-off in the 12th over. He had scored 50 off 36 balls, with two sixes and four boundaries, pacing the innings according to the needs of his partner Coventry, who got off to a flashy start. Coventry made a 35-ball 47, before a mix-up with Dilshan Munaweera found him well short of the crease in the next over.After Munaweera fell to a tremendous catch on the boundary by Cameron Borgas, Rajshahi were 131 for 3 in 15.4 overs and the Riders sensed an opening. But Jahurul Islam and Sean Ervine saw Rajshahi home with an over to spare. Jahurul struck three beautiful sixes, one of which was the winning hit straight down the ground, in his 38 off 18 deliveries.The Riders had decided to bat after winning the toss and their top order, made up of local players, had a good start. Junaid Siddique and Shamsur Rahman added 60 in seven overs and Shamsur added another 55 with Nasir Hossain. Shamsur continued his good form in the competition, hitting his fourth half-century. The 68 off 57 balls was also his highest score in the tournament.The Riders lost wickets at crucial times, however, especially when Shamsur and Nasir fell in the 16th and 19th overs. Danza Hyatt and Borgas were given the task of making the last five overs count and 49 runs came from it. The three Rajshahi spinners did well again, with Monir Hossain and Munaweera picking up a wicket each.
