The Transfer Tavern’s EFL spy reckons that Dwight Gayle could score the goals that were missing for Fulham last season.
Whilst former manager Scott Parker showed the Cottagers up defensively, they managed just 27 goals in the Premier League last season, with only rock-bottom Sheffield United scoring fewer.
Talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic failed to hit the heights of the previous campaign, scoring just three in the league, whilst top goalscorer Bobby Decordova-Reid ended with just five.
And if Fulham are to achieve promotion at the first time of asking once again, they’re going to need someone to step up to the plate and fire them back into the big time.
That someone could be Dwight Gayle, who only signed fresh terms with Newcastle earlier this month, but the Northern Echo believe that was to protect his value.
Gayle scored just once in the Premier League last season, but is proven at Championship level, netting 23 times in each of his previous two campaigns at this level, to go with the 13 he managed at Peterborough prior to signing for Crystal Palace – a total of 59.
The EFL insider exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:
“I’m expecting some big hitters with the money that Fulham have available. I am expecting a big push and a lot of the players will come from abroad and will probably be full internationals.
“Dwight Gayle of Newcastle has scored goals in the Championship and the Premier League, and could give Fulham something they missed last season being an out and out goalscorer.”

وعن الفريق المُفضل للفوز بلقب دوري الأبطال: “في المباراة النهائية، لا يمكنك القول إن هناك فريقًا مفضلاً، نعلم جميعًا أن ليفربول فريق هائل، مليء باللاعبين الرائعين ومن الصعب تحديد من هو المرشح الأوفر حظًا”.
وأنهى: “لقد لعبت لمدة ثماني سنوات في ريال مدريد واثنتان في ليفربول، وقلبي أبيض، ولكن إذا فاز ليفربول بشيء سأحتفل به”.

Ramnaresh Sarwan described his first Test century as the West Indies captain as “very special” after the effort helped his team secure a draw that could easily have been a loss. His 128 did not stop Australia regaining the Frank Worrell Trophy but the fierce resistance put up by Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul gives West Indies confidence heading to the third Test in Barbados, which should feature Chanderpaul despite the batsman carrying a calf niggle in Antigua.West Indies began the final day chasing 372 for a highly unlikely win and Sarwan went out all guns blazing in the first session, racing to 64 at lunch with front-foot drives and brave cuts in the air as he aimed to put Australia on the defensive. But a fired-up Brett Lee picked up two early wickets, giving Australia an air of self-belief, and Sarwan said his main goal was to get through the difficult period without going into his shell.”We needed to survive that but at the same time we needed to be positive,” Sarwan said after the match. “Our focus was to take every session as it is.”The early stumbles forced a rethink after the break and a cooler Sarwan became much more solid in defence, leading his side by example. His previous three Tests as captain had not been personally productive – he had made 54 in three innings and severely injured his shoulder in one match – but this time with the rock solid Chanderpaul he built a match-saving 143-run partnership.Chanderpaul’s calm display was the latest in a long line of super efforts; he already has two centuries in the series and his unbeaten 77 means his Test average in the past 12 months is 106.20. Sarwan said Chanderpaul’s recent form beggared belief. “It’s very hard to find words to describe,” Sarwan said. “Over the past few years he’s shown his consistency and he’s getting better with age. Hopefully we can learn from him.”Chanderpaul scored largely through his trademark deflections and glances, occasionally driving or pulling when the bowlers erred, and he said the goal was playing for time. “We had a plan, bat session by session, don’t play nothing too rash, just play safe,” Chanderpaul said. “Try to stay as long as possible out here.”Although he had a slight limp during the match Chanderpaul expects to play in the series finale, which starts in Barbados on June 12. “[It’s] just a little bit of strain in the calf,” he said. “Should be okay, [we have] about eight days to prepare for the next game, so I should be all right.”
Everton have started the ongoing transfer window with some rather understated signings.
The Toffees have targeted some big names but so far have only ended up with the likes of Andros Townsend, Demarai Gray and Asmir Begovic.
What’s the word?
Whether Everton do spend big this summer could be determined by the future of Richarlison.
If the Brazilian leaves Goodison Park behind then presumably he’ll command a pretty hefty fee.
Should a large sum be acquired then it would not be a great surprise if Rafa Benitez finally decided to splash the cash in the market.
One player they could target as a result is Real Madrid star Marco Asensio. Reports in Spain suggest that Everton, Leeds and Leicester are all options for the winger heading into the new campaign.
Asensio has long been tipped for stardom and was once linked with a mega £119m move to Chelsea.
The new Rodriguez
With James Rodriguez and Richarlison in danger of leaving, Everton must look at signing some high-quality wingers in the eventuality they depart.
Their Colombian dynamo would be the biggest loss after extraordinarily signing him on a free transfer 12 months ago.
He contributed to ten Premier League goals and was their most creative player in terms of key passes per match last season.
Once of Real Madrid, Marcel Brands and Benitez could repeat last summer’s marquee arrival by snapping up Asensio.
Previously tipped to win the Ballon d’Or, he is a mesmeric player on his day, being described as “magical” by Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
He has scored 37 goals for the Spanish side throughout his career but his trajectory has fallen off after suffering a nasty ACL injury back in July 2019.
At the time, Asensio was even being compared to Lionel Messi; “Zidane told me that since Messi, he had never seen a left foot like mine,” the wide man admitted. Rodriguez has an impressive left foot himself but this is arguably the best compliment a player of their ilk could receive.
Asensio only scored seven times last season but at the age of 25, he is now rapidly approaching his prime.
A canny dribbler and a creative maestro, he’d be a simply wonderful addition to the Goodison Park ranks.
Rodriguez was a fine coup last summer but this would arguably be even more impressive given the reviews he received just a few years ago.

A ideia de jogo do Corinthians passa pelo senso coletivo defensivo. Ou seja, não são apenas os zagueiros que marcam, dão botes e aparecem em divididas. Romero e Jadson, os jogadores de ponta, por exemplo, têm importante papel na contenção dos laterais e pontas adversários. Da mesma forma, Gabriel e Maycon, que ocupam espaços e evitam a penetração dos atacantes. Em resumo: sobram poucas bolas para os zagueiros cortarem.

According to Sport, Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite has a ‘preliminary agreement’ to join West Ham this summer – but there’s one issue holding up the move.
The Lowdown: Braithwaite on the way out…
The La Liga giants are in a financial crisis and have just had to let superstar Lionel Messi leave the club due to issues registering his porposed new deal.
Barcelona have been desperately trying to offload players in an attempt to reduce their large wage bill and Braithwaite is seen as one man who is surplus-to-requirements at the Camp Nou.
West Ham have been heavily linked with Braithwaite for some time and Sport now bring an update on his situation.

The Spanish news source believes that the striker has a ‘preliminary agreement’ with West Ham and the operation for his transfer from Barcelona has ‘already’ been on track.

However, Braithwaite himself may have something to say about it, with this report claiming he is now eyeing a possible move to Tottenham to replace Harry Kane – even despite a ‘firm offer’ from West Ham.
It is believed that the Dane ‘prefers’ a move to north London over the Hammers and has asked for time to consider his future as a result.
The Verdict: Blessing in disguise?
Amassing 93 career goals, Braithwaite hasn’t enjoyed prolific form at club level for quite some time and bagged just two strikes in 11 La Liga starts last season (WhoScored).
At 30-years-old, the striker also won’t bring much sell-on value in years to come and we believe West Ham could be about to dodge a bullet if Braithwaite gets his wish and secures a move to Spurs.
West Ham’s search for a striker has been long and arduous but there are arguably better options for David Moyes, namely Liverpool striker Divock Origi, who could become a target towards the end of this window (ExWHUemployee).
He may not be much more prolific, but is far younger with room to develop into the type of player Moyes is looking for.

وأشار تيباس أيضًا إلى الخسائر التشغيلية: “من الإدارة التي ربما تعرضت لها حقبة بارتوميو، لقد كانت قراراتهم الخاصة تؤثر عليهم بشدة من حيث الحد الأقصى للراتب”.
وحول الجدل الدائر بشأن التعاقدات المحتملة لبرشلونة في هذا الوضع الدقيق، علّق تيباس: “يمكنهم التوقيع، التوقيع لا زال بقاعدة 1/3، مقابل كل 100 مليون يستطيعون استخدام 33 مليون، اذا باعوا الأصول كما أرى انهم سيفعلون وعوضوا الخسائر سيعودون للوضع الطبيعي”.

Pakistan will have two domestic Twenty20 teams in the Champions Leaguetournament to be held later this year, said Nasim Ashraf, the PCB chairman. These teams will join Australia, South Africa, India and possibly England in the multi-nation tournament.There has been uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s involvement in thetournament from the start, when an agreement was drawn up by boards fromAustralia, India, South Africa and England and not Pakistan. Discussionswere held in Dubai at the ICC meeting between officials of the fourcountries, but significantly no official from Pakistan was present.Though the BCCI stated last month that Pakistan would be one of theparticipating teams, one official told Cricinfo at the meeting, “All Iconfirm is that teams from India, Australia and South Africa are takingpart. We will finalise the fourth nation or even a fifth in due course.”But Ashraf laid to rest any doubt about the identity of the fourth nation,confirming that two Pakistani teams will be there when and if thetournament goes ahead. “We have been invited by the BCCI to put forwardtwo teams from Pakistan for the Champions League. We were invited when the IPL was launched that whenever the league happens it will have two teams from Pakistan. This was re-affirmed to us by Lalit Modi, the commissioner of the IPL, at a meeting I had with him in Dubai.”Ashraf also revealed plans for a Pakistan Super League (PSL) to belaunched next year, along the lines of the IPL. Presumably this willreplace the domestic Twenty20 Cup, which has already been an unparalleledsuccess locally and has, unusually, had participation from all topnational cricketers”We are almost in the final stages of the launch of the Pakistan SuperLeague,” he said. “It will be held in September 2009. It will be somethingthat the whole of Pakistan can be proud of. We will invite internationalcricketers and each side will have two players under 23 years of age.”
