Ranatunga had been sacked from his position on December 23, and he has responded by challenging the decision in the Supreme Court. Ranatunga is seeking defamation damages for SLR 15 million (US $131,579).Ranatunga claimed he had been removed without calling for an explanation and without a basis. “My name has been tarnished … I want to clear my name,” said Ranatunga, maintaining that he was forced to take the decision to court because there was no other option left.”Arjuna Ranatunga has not been cooperating with the company or the players. We tried to sort it out but could not and he has been removed,” Lokuge had said when he took the decision to remove Ranatunga.Ranatunga has cited Lokuge as the first respondent and secretary to the ministry S Liyanagama as the second respondent. Ranatunga had served as SLC chairman for 11 months.Having led Sri Lanka to victory in the 1996 World Cup, Ranatunga quit international cricket in 2000 after playing 93 Tests and 269 one-dayers. He then began a career in politics, following in the footsteps of his father.

Building on that momentum is the task facing Brendan Rodgers’ charges when the Clarets pay them a visit, and a significant injury boost could help them to do just that.

Rodgers confirmed in Friday’s press conference that centre-back Jonny Evans is available for selection, giving Leicester renewed hope of securing all three points.

The virtually ever-present Kasper Schmeichel will return to his usual sport between the sticks after backup ‘keeper Danny Ward was given his first appearance of the season against Millwall.

In defence, a back four of Ryan Bertrand, Caglar Soyuncu, Jannik Vestergaard and Ricardo Pereira should start despite Evans’ return to action, allowing the 33-year-old time to recover properly.

The engine room will have a familiar feel to it, with Wilfried Ndidi and Youri Tielemans forming the heart of the Leicester midfield.

Ahead the dynamic pair is set to be an exciting forward line. Summer signing Ademola Lookman could keep his place in the starting XI after scoring last time out, replacing the £3.6m-rated Marc Albrighton on the right wing.

However, the efforts of Peterson and Neil McKenzie weren’t enough as the Lions choked in the final over.The Titans finally opened their account in the Pro20 with an an easy six-wicket win against the Eagles at Centurion. The Eagles, after being put in to bat, managed 153 and were led by Dean Elgar, who top scored with 47. He added 62 for the second wicket with Adrian McLaren but after the pair was dismissed, their team struggled to get past 150. The Titans openers Gulam Bodi and Blake Snijman set a solid foundation with a stand of 75, making the chase of 154 much easier for the rest. The Dolphins openers Hashim Amla and HD Ackerman led the chase with ease, adding 67 before both fell in very quick succession. Ahmed Amla and Grant Rowley then eased to the target with an over to spare. It was a rather disappointing end for the Lions as they finished the tournament without a win. The Dolphins will now meet the Cobras in the first leg of the semi-finals in Newlands on Friday.Ashwell Prince made a fine return from injury with 46 to set up the Warriors’ 18-run win against the Eagles in Bloemfontein. He came in with his team in trouble at 13 for 3, started the repair work with Colin Ingram and continued it with Davey Jacobs. After his dismissal in the 16th over, run out by Dean Elgar, the Warriors were boosted by a late assault by Jacobs and Craig Thyssen, who smashed four sixes in his 41 off 15 balls. Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle has slammed the form of Sergio Reguilon following Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Lowdown: Reguilon struggling

Reguilon started against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend, with the opening goal coming from down his flank.

He was one of a number of players who struggled against Spurs’ fierce local rivals, losing possession 17 times and completing just two crosses, hardly ideal for an attacking full-back.

The Latest: Hoddle slams Reguilon

Speaking to Optus Sport after the match, Hoddle slammed Region’s form compared to his impressive start to life in north London. He said (via HITC):

“Reguilon came in, did very well, he competes well, gets forward, gets crosses in, he has gone off the boil.

“There are a lot of players at Tottenham at the moment who have just gone off the boil completely.”

The Verdict: Capable of better

Given £22.5m-valued Reguilon (Transfermarkt) provided the assist for Heung-Min Son’s consolation against Spurs, it was far from his worst performance, but he is capable of much more. After all, he comes from Real Madrid’s youth academy, and was signed for a fee that could rise up to £32m (Sky Sports).

The issue is, he is not the only player not at his best currently at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Three defeats in a row in the Premier League, with nine goals conceded during that time, illustrates just how poor Spurs have been, and the lack of confidence and form has seemed to spread through the team like a disease.

Even star striker Harry Kane remains without a goal after five league outings (Transfermarkt). Nuno Espirito Santo must do all he can to get the best out of his star talents once more, and hopefully Reguilon will be one of the first to kick start back to his prior showings.
