Pakistan have rewarded some of their consistent performers in domestic cricket by including three uncapped players – top-order batsman Rameez Raja, legspinner Yasir Shah and seamer Aizaz Cheema – as well as fast bowler Sohail Khan, who has played only one Test, in the squad for the tour of Zimbabwe that starts on August 28. There are also recalls for opening batsman Imran Farhat, who hasn’t played for Pakistan since the one-day series against South Africa in the UAE in October 2010, and left-arm fast bowler Sohail Tanvir, who was last included for the New Zealand tour earlier in the year.The squad seems to be an experimental one, with the bowling attack in particular featuring several new names and missing some of the senior players. Umar Gul, Tanvir Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, who have been Pakistan’s three premier fast bowlers in recent times, have all been rested, with Sohail Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Cheema and Junaid Khan making up the pace attack. There is also a change in the spin department with Abdur Rehman being rested and Yasir being given an opportunity.Pakistan’s chief selector Mohsin Khan explained that the fresh look to the squad was an effort to blood youngsters. “We have to bring in young players along with seniors so that they could be groomed,” he said. “Because it’s a short tour we have selected only one squad for all three formats of the game and have rested Riaz and Gul in a hope to try out some youngsters.”Adnan Akmal has reclaimed the wicketkeeper’s spot in the squad, meaning Mohammad Salman, who failed to impress with the bat in the West Indies and Ireland, makes way. Allrounder Hammad Azam also failed to have an impact on those tours and has been kept in the standbys to make place for Raja. Ahmed Shehzad, who was dropped after the tour of the West Indies, has been left out again.Another development is the inclusion of Shoaib Malik, the former Pakistan captain, in the list of standbys. Malik has been involved in a battle with the PCB, whose integrity committee has not cleared him for selection since the controversial tour of England last year. Mohsin said Malik would only be included if he managed to obtain clearance from the PCB. Meanwhile, legspinner Danish Kaneria, who has taken his fight to get clearance to the Sindh High Court, continues to be ignored.Raja’s call-up comes on the back of consistent domestic performance in all formats. He was the leading run-getter in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division One last season, and was top of the run charts again during the recent Faysal Bank Super Eight Twenty20 Cup. His performances in the T20 competition, which included a 97 in the semi-final and a half-century in the final, led to calls for his inclusion in the national side.Sohail Khan, Sohail Tanvir and Cheema were all recently part of an emerging players camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, where they received tips from former Pakistan fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz. Sohail Khan and Sohail Tanvir both brought themselves back into the limelight during the Super Eight Twenty20 competition; the former took 14 wickets in Karachi Dolphins’ road to the finals, while the latter captained Rawalpindi Rams to the title. Cheema, 31, earned his call-up through another strong first-class season in which he took 57 wickets in eight games in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.Yasir impressed with his 16 wickets in four games during the Faysal Bank Pentangular Cup at the beginning of this year, and then took 3 for 29 for Pakistan A against Afghanistan in a one-dayer. وقال عبد ربه في تصريحات تلفزيونية بفضائية “أون تايم سبورتس2”: “اللاعبون حصلوا على وعود لم تنفذ، والجدد حصلوا على شيكات بدون رصيد، وللأمانة يحيى الكومي رئيس النادي السابق كان يدفع من ماله الخاص”.

وأضاف: “الموسم الماضي محافظ الإسماعلية دفع 6 ملايين جنيه، قمت بتوزيعها على اللاعبين والكل كان راضيًا ونجحنا في الاستمرار بالدوري”.

وتابع: “تفاجأت بالصفقات بعد عودتي من رحلة عمرة، اللجنة الفنية داخل الإسماعيلي هي المسؤولة عن ملف اللاعبين، ولم يتم استطلاع رأيي في التعاقدات، وإذا كنت اعترضت ورحلت لكنت أكثر شخص سيُلقى باللوم عليه، ولكن مَن في مصر اختلف على اللاعبين الجدد؟، ومَن الذي لم يتوقع عودة الدراويش؟، لكن هذا لم يحدث لأسباب عديدة من الخارج جعلت اللاعبين غير قادرين”.

وواصل: “الكومي عرض على باسم مرسي 5 ملايين جنيه خلال جلسة الاتفاق، ولكني في حضور اللاعب قلت له لن تحصل إلا على 3 ملايين، ولكن رئيس النادي قال لا سيحصل على 5 ملايين، وقلت يا باسم ستفهم كلامي بعد ذلك، لأنني كنت أعرف ما سيحدث”.

وأردف: “الإدارة صنعت فجوة بين اللاعبين القدامى والجدد، لأن القدامى لم يحصلوا على مستحقاتهم المتأخرة، والجدد حصلوا على مقدم تعاقد، اللاعبون كانوا مضغوطين جدًا لعدم حصولهم على عقودهم، وعندما طلبت من يحيى الكومي مستحقات اللاعبين قبل مباراة الأهلي بثلاثة أيام قال لي (ملكش دعوة) لذلك اعتذرت عن عدم الاستمرار”.

واستكمل: “والد زوجتي كتب منشورًا على فيس بوك لم يعجب يحيى الكومي، فاتصل بي وقال لي تحمل ما سيحدث لك، ستكون كبش الفداء”.

وكشف: “أما موضوع زي الفريق، فاللاعبون رفضوا ارتداء الزي القديم، وقلت لهم لدي أزمة مع يحيى الكومي ووقعوا على ورقة وقدموها للإدارة، وبالفعل فعلوا ذلك وقال لهم أهم شيء راحتكم النفسية وسترتدون الزي الذي تريدونه”.

واستطرد: “في اليوم التالي قمت بعمل جلسة تصوير للاعبين وكنت سعيدًا بشكل اللاعبين، ونشرت صورة لهم بالزي الجديد الذي سيلعب به الفريق أمام الأهلي، لكن ما قيل إنني كنت أعاند مع الإدارة، لا يليق أنا رجل أتقي الله في بيتي”.

واستكمل: “بعد مباراة الأهلي والإسماعيلي وكيل جاريدو اتصل بي وأخبرني بأن يحيى الكومي أبلغه باقتراب إقالته، شعرت بظلم وكبت، والناس وجهت لي اللوم لأنني تكلمت في الأمر، ألست بشرًا؟ لماذا تستكترون علي حقي في الرد؟”.

واستأنف: “أول حل لأزمة الإسماعيلي كان رحيل مجلس الإدارة، لأن اللاعبين لن يلعبوا تحت قهر، وعلى وزير الرياضة أن يشكل لجنة سريعًا لإدارة النادي، كما يجب أن يكون هناك استثمارات، الإسماعيلي ناد كبير ولكن لا بد أن نبتعد عن الصراعات والخلافات”.

وأكد: “مهمة أحمد حسام ميدو في الإسماعيلي انتحارية، وإذا عرضت علي لن أرفض، إقالتي كانت مخططة لي وبعد ذلك يرحل جاريدو، وتدخلت في الأمور الفنية في مباراة الأهلي بطلب من جاريدو”.

وأشار: “إذا كنت موجودًا في الإسماعيلي لما وافقت أن يتولى ميدو تدريب الإسماعيلي مع عمله الإعلامي، وأنصحه بالهدوء أكثر من ذلك لأنه متحمس بشكل كبير، أريده أن يركز بنسبة 100% مع الفريق”.

وأتم: “المجلس المستقيل لإدارة الإسماعيلي كان يغار مني، وهم سبب وصول الفريق لما هو فيه”.

واختتم: “لم أرفض عودة محمد صبحي لنادي الإسماعيلي، هو أسطورة النادي، كنت أتمنى تواجده ولكن المجلس كان رافضًا”.

There had been some grumbling from club stalwarts when Warwickshire signed Shiv Chanderpaul, but today he justified the investment with a masterful century

There was some consternation at Edgbaston when Warwickshire signed Shivnarine Chanderpaul. What sort of message, some supporters asked, did bringing in a short-term overseas signing send out to the club’s own young players? Those grumbles only increased after Chanderpaul’s lacklustre debut against Hampshire last week.Here, however, the West Indian justified Warwickshire’s investment with a masterful century. With the match and the Championship title in the balance, Chanderpaul contributed a chanceless – and so far unbeaten – innings of 167 which may well prove to have lasting consequences for both sides.While Warwickshire’s hopes of winning the title remain alive, Yorkshire’s chances of avoiding relegation receded yet further. The scores drifting in from The Rose Bowl will have done nothing to lighten the mood.This game hasn’t gone yet, however. Warwickshire’s lead is only 43 and, if Yorkshire can strike early on the third day and then bat far better in their second innings, they could yet turn this match.As it is, however, Warwickshire have an opportunity to bat the hosts out of the game. The pitch is beginning to shows signs of variable bounce and is offering sharp turn out of the foot-holes. As Chanderpaul put it: “the bounce is a bit up and down and it’s only the end of day two; it’s not going to get any better.”Not that you’d notice from watching Chanderpaul. Coming to the crease with Warwickshire on 5 for 2, he barely played and missed in almost six hours at the crease and at times made Yorkshire’s attack look very ordinary indeed. He made it look easy,” Yorkshire captain Jacques Rudolph admitted afterwards. “He showed his class and his experience and he was very difficult to control.”This was a disappointing performance from the hosts, however. While Ryan Sidebottom and, to a lesser extent, Steve Patterson, at least gave their captain a measure of control, Chanderpaul was able to milk the others as if they were Friesians. Richard Pyrah, dropping short with mystifying regularity, was pulled repeatedly, while Adil Rashid, bereft of confidence, looks a shadow of the bowler that once promised so much. David Wainwright bowled some decent spells but simply found himself engaged in a battle with a superior opponent and conceded four an over at a time his captain desperately required someone to apply control.Chanderpaul wasn’t the only batsman to impress. Tim Ambrose again looked in fine touch in recording his sixth Championship half-century of the season. It says much for the bowling, however, that Ambrose, at one stage, hit boundaries from six consecutive deliveries: four off Pyrah – three drives and a pull – and two pulls off horrid Rashid long-hops.With Chanderpaul, Ambrose added 111 for Warwickshire’s fifth wicket and, while he may regret again failing to convert his fine form into a century – he hasn’t scored one since 2009 – he might also consider himself unfortunate to be adjudged caught at slip off a ball that seemed to have turned from a foot hole and missed the bat altogether.Laurie Evans also prospered for a while. Demonstrating excellent balance and timing the ball beautifully, he undid much of his good work, however, by perishing to Wainwright’s fourth delivery, attempting a cut to a ball too full for the shot.Keith Barker, so good with the ball on the first day, also looked good with the bat. While there’s little pretty about Barker’s batting – it’s effective rather than pleasing – he’s already helped Chanderpaul add 76 for Warwickshire’s seventh-wicket and, unless Yorkshire strike early on day three, could take the game away from the hosts on the third morning.Most of all, however, there was Chanderpaul. After a watchful start, he grew in confidence and, having swept Wainwright out of the attack, he unveiled some unusually elegant drives and pulled with power and precision. Less eye-catching but equally impressive was the way he nudged and guided the ball into gaps. It was his ninth century in just his 34th Championship game. He’s also made 14 half-centuries.While Chanderpaul insists that international cricket remains his priority – “I’m available for them in all formats” he said – there is now a growing chance that his future is in county cricket. If the West Indies don’t want him – and they must be a very fine side to leave out such a talent – Warwickshire surely will.This was a performance made all the more surprising for the contrast with his batting against Hampshire. Before that game, however, Chanderpaul says he felt short of practise and he responded to the early loss by reporting to Edgbaston for extra training. It seems to have done the trick.The rest of Warwickshire’s batting folded a little too easily. Ian Westwood shuffled in front of one that went straight on, Varun Chopra missed one that nipped back and Jim Troughton again squandered a decent start by edging a flashing cut stroke. Later Darren Maddy was adjudged leg before despite there being a hint of bat involved.Still, with Chanderpaul there to provide backbone, such issues could be overlooked. Just as Mohammad Yousuf provided a telling contribution in the home game against Worcestershire, Chanderpaul may well have made the telling contribution here. It’s exactly what the overseas player is required to do.Off the pitch the news was less good for Warwickshire. It is understood that Rikki Clarke is almost certain to leave the club at the end of the season and is expected to sign for Sussex within days. While Warwickshire have offered him a new, two-year deal, Sussex have offered three years and the opportunity to bat a little higher up the order in limited-overs cricket. Sussex will be his fourth county side.He’ll be quite an addition. While the runs haven’t flowed in the quantity they might have done this season, Clarke has developed into a high-quality fast bowler. He also remains one of the best fielders in the country.Meanwhile the future of Lancashire’s Gary Keedy remains uncertain. While Warwickshire have offered a three-year deal, Lancashire have offered two years. Whatever he decides – and with the T20 and Championship title to be decided in the days ahead, he’s not going to decide this week – Keedy’s heart, you suspect, remains very much at Old Trafford.

– O mínimo que eu posso fazer é usufruir de toda a estrutura que o centro de excelência do Palmeiras dá e de seus profissionais capacitados. Eu chegava (na Academia), às 8h, 9h da manhã e ia embora lá para as 19h na recuperação. Neste momento você precisa fazer seu máximo para se recuperar. Eu descansava aqui, ficava no quarto, porque se você vai para casa, ou vai fazer alguma outra coisa vai caminhar, vai ter desgaste, vai cuidar das crianças, vai correr. Procurei ficar o máximo de tempo no clube, para me recuperar e voltava à noite para ficar com minha família e dormir com eles, porque preciso desta energia e do apoio de todos – acrescentou.

– Eu nunca tive histórico de lesão. Por incrível que pareça, comecei a me machucar agora no Palmeiras. Tive duas cirurgias decorrentes de traumas (pé esquerdo, em 2016, e joelho esquerdo, em 2017), não tem como evitar no jogo. Posterior a isso tive duas lesões musculares. Uma bem pequena contra o Sport, em Recife, em 2016, e esta agora, contra o Atlético-PR. Falam de muitas lesões, mas são só quatro. É que duas foram longas, por serem cirurgias. Sempre me recuperei rápido, fico feliz por isso. Trabalho bem, o Palmeiras tem um centro de excelência e profissionais que facilitam a recuperação, mas Deus me abençoa como sempre – citou.
